#ShaneyfeltVillage T-Shirt Fundraiser!

Friday, August 31, 2018

Today I'm SO very excited because we're launching our t-shirt fundraiser!!  This fundraiser is really special because Dustin is obsessed with t-shirts....really obsessed.  Because of that, he designed this shirt and it has a really special meaning to us!

We chose the US in the background to represent our domestic adoption, and the words inside the box represent everything we've clung to throughout our infertility and now our adoption.  There's a Bible verse on the back and I'll attach the rendering below so you can see it.

These shirts are 100% cotton.  I'm wearing my usual size, but I'm going to size up because I'm not sure if it'll shrink and because I like shirts I lounge in to be baggy!

So, how do you buy?
These shirts at $20 each for YM, YL, YXL and adult small - xlarge.
They are $22 for 2XL and 3XL.
Add in $5 for shipping!

Orders can be placed through September 15, and we will ship as soon as we receive them!

Go to paypal.me/DustinShaneyfelt to send your money.  Please put your sizes and mailing address (if needed) in the notes section!

We are so thankful for everyone supporting us!  You are definitely our VILLAGE!

What's Up Wednesday! 8.29.18

Wednesday, August 29, 2018

Hey y'all!  It's the last Wednesday of the month (Hallelujah!) and so I'm linking up with my favorite blogger Shay for What's Up Wednesday!

What we're eating this week...
I hate to say that I haven't meal planned this week at all!  I'm flying by the seat of my pants when it comes to suppers this week and I'm not a fan of that.
Monday- turkey burgers and veggies
Tuesday- grilled cheese sandwiches (see, flying by the seat of my pants)
Wednesday- crockpot salsa chicken for burrito bowls
Thursday- maybe a healthy chicken salad??
Friday- ???

What I'm reminiscing about...
I told Dustin the other day that I've started to notice my tan from the beach is starting to fade..boo!  I really loved our beach trip this year and we're already talking about going back again!

What I'm loving...
So many things these days!!  I love this time of year because of the anticipation of my favorite seasons, IG stories, Hallmark movies, BABY CLOTHES,....lots of things!!

What we've been up to...
In case you missed it, we announced early July that we're adopting!!  So we've been doing tons of paperwork, background checks, drug tests--you name it.  We've also been fundraising and we're announcing our newest fundraiser on Friday!!

And Starbucks released their pumpkin spice lattes yesterday so you better believe I made the trip to go get one!  I worked out before I went in hopes that my metabolism would work some of those drink calories off haha!  I ordered my drink and then drove to Hobby Lobby to walk around--it was the perfect  afternoon!

What I'm dreading...
This heat!!  We had a really nice cool spell for about three days where it was in the low 60s in the mornings and the low 80s in the afternoons.  It was amazing.  Now it's back to the mid 90s in the afternoons.  Fall weather, I need you!!

What I'm working on...
Putting together a nursery, making a list of baby items we need to buy, and finding gender neutral baby clothes!

What I'm excited about...
A three day weekend!!!!

What I'm watching/reading...
Watching the usual: Hallmark, Real Housewives of Dallas, Million Dollar Listing NY, Kardashians, Suits
Reading: not enough!!!  I just started reading Awe by Paul David Tripp.  Back in June, my bff and I went to The Gospel Coalition Women's Conference and we both picked up that book.  She's already read it and loved it, so I can't wait to find the time to sit down and read ha!

What I'm listening to...

PODCASTS!!!  I did a post on my favorite podcasts because I cannot stop listening to them! If I have more time, I listen to Journeywomen and if I'm needing something quicker, I'll listen to Al Mohler's The Briefing.  I also just found a podcast on the royal family so y'all know I'm all over that!!

What I'm wearing...
I've got to do better about photographing my outfits!!  Here are a few I found from August...
Matilda Jane top and bottom makes it feel like wearing pjs to school!

What I'm doing this weekend...
Probably working on some adoption stuff and the nursery!!!  And celebrating Labor Day with Dustin!  Oh, and watching Alabama football!

What I'm looking forward to next month...
Hopefully cooler weather!!  Painting the nursery, finding a dresser (maybe??), getting a few more baby items--our life is all about baby right now and we love it!

Life Lately!

Monday, August 27, 2018

Happy Monday!!!  I unintentionally took last week off of the blog, but last week was SO busy!  And any free time I got, I just spent either hanging out with Dustin or watching tv ha!

my sweatshirt
On opening weekend, Friday after school a group of teachers went to see Crazy Rich Asians (we're missing Christy in this picture!!) and we LOVED it!  It was hilarious and even though there were some obvious differences from the book, I didn't mind them and thoroughly enjoyed the movie.  Now, I've got to read the second book so they can hurry up and make that movie ha!

I was just talking about these with one of my friends!  Kroger has been selling these ceramic pumpkins the last two years and each year they bring out new designs.  The two I already have aren't pictured, and I'm hoping one day to add the stacked pumpkins (in the bottom right of the picture) to my collection one day.  I LOVE seeing things like this because I'm so ready for fall!

Speaking of fall, don't forget about mine and Emily's fall link up!!  It starts next week with crock pot meals and I can't wait to see what everyone links up because I am all about the crock pot during cold weather.

We've had some lower humidity at nights, so Dustin and I have taken advantage of that and enjoyed some time out on our back porch.  Lower humidity doesn't mean less mosquitos, so we've had to burn those citronella candles but that doesn't bother me.

Last weekend while we were siting on the back porch, I got a call from a girl in my small group who had a flat tire driving a work truck and needed help.  Dustin changed the tire and so I definitely had to snap a photo of this 😂  I'm thankful I'm married to a man who can do stuff like this without any problem!

The high school football season kicked off this past Friday night and our team had a home football game against a pretty difficult opponent.  If you didn't know, Dustin and I went to the same high school and we live in that same town (and I teach for the junior high!).  Dustin just loves watching any and all football and I love being able to watch former students.

We enjoyed a lunch date after church on Sunday!

I bought some Dreft to start washing the baby clothes I've bought (which isn't much 🙈).  I carefully read the washing directions on each of the outfits and made sure I did everything perfectly.  As I was getting everything on a hanger to put in the closet and could smell the detergent scent, I thought about how there were times that I never thought I'd be doing this.  There were times when my sadness won over and I thought that Dustin and I would be childless forever.  But these clothes represent God's goodness in our lives.  Our life right now is definitely not what I pictured whenever I used to think about my life with children, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Until tomorrow...

Monday, August 20, 2018

Instead of blogging yesterday, I spent my time researching baby items and making lists of all that we'll possibly need before we have to travel and of what can wait until we get home!!

That was so fun but really exhausting haha!!  I'll be back tomorrow with a weekend recap! xo

Friday Faves!

Friday, August 17, 2018

Happy Friday, y'all!  This week has gone by pretty fast and I've survived my second week of school haha!  Now, when are we out of school next?! 😜  Just kidding!

I posted an adoption update on Wednesday!!!  So if you missed that, you're going to want to head over there to see where we are in the process.  We are almost 1/4th of the way to our goal, so if you still want to donate you can at paypal.me/DustinShaneyfelt !

We still covet your prayers!  Please pray for the lady who will choose us to parent her baby...pray for peace over her decision and for her health.  (We're not matched yet.)  Also, please pray for Dustin and I that we just trust in God during all of this.  We (as people) have a tendency to want to control everything (thanks to our sinful nature) so there are times when we feel like we're totally trusting in God and then other times when we worry about finances or timelines or really anything that can be worried about ha!  Just being real 😊  We've been blown away by the people who have given so far and we are so humbled by that!  Thank you!

Okay, now onto my FAVORITES!!!

I think it's taken me a while to figure this out.  I've been working on losing the weight I gained while taking fertility meds.  I don't know if it's just me or if it's all women, but I used to think that I just needed to hardly eat anything in order to lose weight.  But then I'd end up with my stomach growling at 8pm and either be miserable or eat way more than I should.  I've really learned this time around that I can eat a good sized meal, but it needs to be food that's good for my body.  And when I do that, I step on the scale the next day and see that I've lost weight!

Yesterday I wore a Lilly top to school.  During my planning, I opened up a can of La Croix and my partner teacher walked in and made the comment about how I matched my drink!  So Lilly or La Croix, if either of y'all want to send me free products to put on my blog, PLEASE DO!!! 😂😂

Emily and I are gearing up to host our 3rd annual Fall Favorites link up!!  We have had so much fun doing this the past two years and we're really excited to bring it back.  I'm really excited about the Crock Pot meals link up day because using my crock pot just screams fall and cold weather to me.  Go ahead and mark your calendar to join us the first three Wednesdays in September!!

And for my latest favorite song this week...

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND, FRIENDS!!!  I'll be heading to the movies with some of my teacher friends today after school to see Crazy Rich Asians!!!

Adoption Update!

Wednesday, August 15, 2018

Every Friday I do an adoption update on my personal Facebook page so that our friends and family know how to pray for us and because I'm sure people who have donated to our adoption want to know where we are in the process.  But I realized I haven't done one here yet!

We started this process in July.  We announced we were adopting early July, got our acceptance email from FAC mid-July, started gathering paperwork for our home study shortly after we announced we were adopting and now here we are mid-August!  Things are moving so much faster that we first expected--which is great!!!  I'm thankful that I was off work in July so that I could really spend time gathering and filling out paperwork.

Pretty much everything is done on our end.  We're just waiting on a few things to come through.  We've got our last home study visit in a few days, we're waiting on our profile book to be completed (that should be by this weekend), and we're waiting on our Texas clearances to come through ( a requirement from FAC in case we adopt from TX).

I don't think it's a lofty goal in hoping to be active by the end of September!!  So what will that mean?  We'll be ready to match with a birth mom and the average wait for our agency is 4.5 months--so it could be quick!  Please keep praying for us! The sooner we are active then the sooner we have to have proof of funds to our agency and we are almost 1/4th of the way to our goal! You can still give at paypal.me/DustinShaneyfelt or if you are local, you can mail or give to us in person!

Yesterday I went to my first consignment sale EVER!!  My friend and her husband put on this massive consignment sale twice a year and I obviously have never had a need to go.  I was blown away by how awesome the clothes were!  She only accepts the good stuff so while I was scrounging the racks for gender neutral clothing, I kept wishing I knew what the gender would be because I kept passing up Feltman Brothers and Petit Ami!  I didn't find very many clothes but I did luck out and get a rock and play that I had on my list!  Excellent quality and the best price!  I plugged it in last night to show Dustin when he got home how it worked and I could have cried because it was so sweet--literally cannot wait to put a baby in it!

Monday Coffee Talk!

Monday, August 13, 2018

Monday came really fast, didn't it?

I'm up early this morning getting this blog post written because when it came time for me to write this last night, I chose to soak in our tub instead ha!

So let's grab a cub of coffee (or a skinny vanilla latte for me) and hang out!

-About 3 weeks ago, I decided to make Monday my sheet washing day.  I was tired of washing our sheets on the weekend and it's nice to go to bed on a Monday night with clean sheets!

-Anyone else watching Suits?  I started binge watching the series on Amazon Prime mid-May and I'm so happy to say that I'm all caught up and even caught up with the current season.  Harvey and Donna are my favorite!

-My sister started a health and fitness accountability group on Facebook last week and last week was the hardest to begin because of school!!  I only worked out once last week (Saturday 😂) so I'm ready for this week to be much better!

-Speaking of working out Saturday, I'm currently doing the BBG workouts.  Last week would have been week 2, so since I only worked out once, I did the arms and abs day on Saturday since those need so much work on me.  Safe to say my shoulders and stomach will be sore for a while!

-Last night I finished uploading all of our photos and text for our profile book.  I ended up hiring out someone to do it after I found a girl who gave me a great deal on it and her style was exactly what I wanted.  I was going to do it myself, but after I spent a few hours trying to figure it out and only ended up with 2 pages done and extremely stressed, I realized it would be better for my sanity to hire it out.

-Speaking of working on our profile book, I went through all of our pictures and came across pictures from early 2017 when I had cut my hair off.  Seeing those REALLY made me want to cut my hair again!!!  This was taken pre-all the really heavy fertility meds so I was much thinner.  I really think that once I lose enough weight to where you can see it in my face, I'm going to cut my hair!!!  (Maybe??)

-And because I'm obsessed with baby clothes, here's a gender neutral footed pj that I love!

Friday Faves: First Week of School!!

Friday, August 10, 2018

Hallelujah it's finally Friday!!!!  The first week back to school is always the hardest and I am exhausted.  I am going to turn my phone on silent tonight and sleep in tomorrow morning!!!

Today's post is going to be pretty short because I feel like I've been in a fog this entire week and literally haven't taken any photos!  But before I get to my favorite things, I've been thinking a lot about infertility and adoption and so I hope to have a more "real" post out next week about my feelings currently.

And we are still taking donations through PayPal for our adoption!!  I know August is such a hard month for some people because of all the back to school fees, but we are so very appreciative of anything donated!  Things are getting so close to being done and getting ready to go active!!  Eek!  And once we go active, we need about 15k-20k just in case we get matched with an agency that requires a match fee.  So for those who still want to donate to our fund, you can through paypal at paypal.me/DustinShaneyfelt    THANK YOU!!!

I didn't get a photo from the first day of school and I wish I would have!!  I wore a cute yellowish dress from Anthro that I snagged a couple of years ago.  I stayed at school until 4 that afternoon working on things for the next day and then I came home to do more school work.  I made myself stop for dinner and then after dinner I relaxed in our bed drinking a La Croix and watching a Hallmark Christmas movie haha!  My favorite way to unwind!

I absolutely LOVE that Lilly finally has brought out longer hemlines.  Until now, I really have avoided buying lots of Lilly because all of the dresses are too short for me to wear to school and sadly, most of the clothes I buy I have to make sure I can wear them to school.  I had a gift card to use before our beach trip, so I picked up this dress.  I threw a blue jean jacket on over this for school since my district requires wider straps for the shoulders.

I hope y'all have a great weekend!!!  I'll be working on our adoption profile book and scanning in all of our documents into a dropbox for our consultants!!

My Favorite Podcasts (....Right Now!)

Monday, August 6, 2018

I have become OBSESSED with podcasts in the last few months!  I feel like this is so crazy because I'm always such a music person, so it feels weird to be getting ready or cooking and listening to a podcast and not music.  But I'm not mad about it!

I realize now that I love learning, so listening to podcasts that allow me to learn while I'm busy driving or getting ready has been the best use of my time.  Now don't get me wrong, I still listen to a lot of music 😂

Before I share what my favorite podcasts have been lately, I probably should tell you that I'm not one of those crime podcast listeners or anything like that.  I mean, I don't even like to watch Dateline or anything like that on tv, so I'm not listening to it on a podcast haha!

This has been my FAVORITE episode that I've listened to lately, HANDS DOWN!  I actually ended up stopping the episode a few times to write down quotes.  Some of my favorites were: "Until I understand who God is, I can never understand who He has designed me to be."  and "Sound doctrine yields sound living."

If you listen to one episode this week, make it this one!

I listened to this while on the beach and cried 😂😂  I was thankful for sunglasses and a towel to wipe my tears on!

Jackie Hill Perry is my GIRL!  Love this episode of her!  I saw Jackie speak at The Gospel Coalition Women's Conference back in June and her teaching is strong!

Yes to this one, too!  So convicting--especially when they talk about repentance.

I love listening to Al Mohler each week day because he gives world news from a Christian point of view.

The Big Boo Cast is the podcast I want to listen to when I want a good laugh!  Some of my favorite episodes were when they discussed the royal wedding!  Sophie Hudson is one half of the duo in the podcast and she lives in Birmingham!!

I don't listen to these weekly, but there have been many times when I have a few free minutes so I scroll through to find something I want to listen to.

This was the very first episode I listened to from Risen Motherhood and it was so impactful because we had just started taking Clomid and I know the Lord put that episode in my hands to help prepare me for what was to come.  I now listen to RM a lot in order to prepare for motherhood!!

I hope y'all have a wonderful Monday!  Our first day back to school with the kids is tomorrow, so I will see y'all back here on Friday!!

Friday Faves!

Friday, August 3, 2018

I don't know if I want to start this one off with Happy Friday because I'm already back at school ha! 😜  Teachers started back yesterday, and instead of doing our normal institute, we toured local industries!  I was a little unsure of this but I ended up really enjoying it!  I was sent to a local dairy industry and some of the places it supplies are McDonald's soft serve ice cream and their frappes, Cold Stone Creamery, and the whip cream at Cheesecake.  I got to tour the entire plant and watch production and then at the end I got ice cream!  It was so interesting, and I really love watching how things are made.

Yesterday I also mentioned in my IG story that I tried two new (to me) things and am totally hooked.  First, I'm reading Crazy Rich Asians and so far I'm really enjoying it!  And Tuesday morning when I was putting on my make up, I accidentally broke my concealer wand off into the bottle.  Luckily I was almost out of that concealer, but I didn't have time this week to drive to Sephora so I ran into Ulta since it's closer and remembered that the Tarte Shape Tape was only carried at Ulta.  I decided to try it since everyone who has used it loves it and now I DO TOO!!!  I feel like it made my skin look flawless, so it may be a product that I buy just at Ulta haha!

top (only $5!!) | shorts
Yesterday afternoon when I got home, I changed into my workout clothes and completed week 1 day 2 of BBG.  The workout is designed to complete on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but I'm doing it on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.  I'm still struggling through the workouts but I know that they will get easier the more I do them.

One of my former students just started a blog and it's so great!!!  Maggie was a student in my first year of teaching and now she's a student at Alabama!

I'm finally caught up on Suits (except for this week's episode)!!  I talked about starting to watch Suits at the end of May, so I spent all summer watching all 7 seasons.  Originally, I started watching after the royal wedding because of Meghan Markle, but it quickly turned into my favorite tv show because of the writing.  I've had so many people tell me they started watching Suits because of me, so if you're looking to binge a new tv show, watch Suits on Amazon Prime video and then you can catch up with the current epiodes On Demand!!!

Have a great weekend!!

The Art of Self-Care

Wednesday, August 1, 2018

pj shirt | pj pants | coffee cup (local boutique)

I've noticed that the older I get, the easier it is for me to get stressed out.  Do you feel the same way?  I remember taking a quiz in college about stress and I scored very low, and I feel like now if I took that same quiz I'd score way high!  I think it's because the older I've gotten (aka the fact that I'm now a real adult) and the more responsibilities I have, the easier it is for me to stress about things that I have no control over.

And stress really affects my body.  We all know that stress can lower your metabolism, but I've learned that stress even affects my digestive system to make me very sick and unable to eat.

So how do I deal with the stresses of just being an adult?

Self-care!

I know the term "self-care" is a relatively new term but the concept is not.  It's so important to stop and make time to take care of ourselves before we run our body ragged.  Below are some of my favorite ways to practice self-care...

1. Be in the Word and pray

2. Take a warm bath using lavender oil

3. Drink my favorite latte and savor it

4. Paint my nails (or have them done!!)

5. Get in my pjs early and make time to unwind

6. Read

7. Watch a TV show or Hallmark movie!

8. Go for a walk

9. Call my family or best friend

10. Light a candle

11. Go to bed early

12. Ask for help and accept that help!

13. Bake something sweet

What are some ways you practice self-care?
