Coffee Talk

Tuesday, January 23, 2018

Hi friends!  Let's pretend we're getting coffee at a coffee shop and chatting over a skinny vanilla latte!
Trying the new blonde espresso!  And please ignore my bedroom.  I wash our sheets every Sunday, and Dustin leaves his clothes everywhere every day.

-I've heard that using purple shampoo for blonde hair makes your hair blonder.  Is that true, and if so, where can I buy it?!

-I've been watching Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian since the very first episode.  Watching it always motivates me to eat better and work out harder (or work out at all ha).  Anyone else feel the same way?

-Speaking of Khloe and her awesome show, I have been feeling horrible about my own body  since last month.  IVF has really affected my hormones and my weight.  I'm really trying to give myself some grace during this time, but I'll be honest, it's hard.  I've thought about writing a post about this but I'm not sure.

-I'm embarrassed to say this, but I just got my flu shot Sunday.  So if you're like me, it's not too late!!  The flu epidemic in Alabama is pretty scary, and I'm trying to protect myself and those around me.

-I watched a Hallmark movie from the fall that I recorded but hadn't seen yet.  It was called Harvest Wedding (it was new this past fall), and it was so good!  Y'all know I love Hallmark movies, but yes, some are boring and so predictable (even for me).  But Harvest Wedding was so, so good!!

-I've been getting lots of compliments about my hair ever since I've started using my new wand to curl it.  This is the exact wand I have!  It's wonderful!

  1. I used to use purple shampoo back in the day when I had blonde highlights — I bought it at Sally Hansen beauty supply and it was called shimmer lights or something like that.

I feel ya on the hormonal weight! I finally lost all of mine but it was such a battle when it was being added. I felt so out of control and frumpy all of the time.

I still have some Hallmark Christmas movies on my DVR — I just love them so much!

I’ve never gotten a flu shot before!

  4. Yes I always use the purple shampoo when I go blonde in the summer! Matrix just came out with one that I used last summer.

  5. I am terrified of the flu, we all have our shots but I keep hearing about children dying from it and its about made me want to stay inside my house until march! I love that outfit you're wearing, that drop is darling! Hormonal weight is the worst, I can imagine with all your bodys been through its hard for you! you are gorgeous, but I totally get that internal struggle, something I deal with daily!

  6. When I lightened my hair in the fall my stylist told me to use purple shampoo maybe 2 or 3 times a week when I felt like it was starting to get a "brassy" look. She said to let it stay in a few minutes before you washed it out. You can get it at any beauty supply store. I've not tried it yet, but it's on my shopping list for next week because I think I'm ready for the refresher!

Hormonal weight is the worst and makes you feel your worst. Men have NO clue what a free pass they've been given, ha.

The flu is absolutely awful this year!! SO thankful we've been spared (so far), knock on wood.

Harvest Wedding was actually one of the very few new movies I caught last season and I'll agree it was very good! Happy Tuesday friend!

  7. I just did a balayage (spelling?!) yesterday, and the stylist suggested I just some purple shampoo to mix with my regular shampoo twice a week. I usually never buy products at the salon, but I actually did take her up on it because I've been reading really great reviews about how it keeps your blonde color vibrant and from turning brassy. Funny you post about that first thing in this post considering I just bought my first bottle yesterday! Your blonde color is always gorgeous though, so I'm not sure you need it. Yours never seems to fade and always looks pretty. Shoot, if you can save the money, I would. ;)

  8. I use the Bed Head Dumb Blonde brand purple shampoo and I got it on Amazon! I leave it on about 10 minutes and I like the slight purple hue but if that's not your thing just don't leave it on as long.

  10. Saraaaah!!!! Thank goodness you got your flu shot! All of this flu business is scaring me to death! One of my old coworkers has been in ICU with it for the last ten days and he has lost many of his auto immune functions... he can't talk, can't walk, and can't even swallow and he has to have a feeding tube. It's terrifying. They think he's going to be okay, but they said it could take months to get back to normal.

  11. Hi There! Sorry to hear you aren't feeling tip-top after your IVF - you should do a post on it, I am sure it would help readers understand what people go through and offer support and advice to others going through it or thinking of doing so. You look fab!! It is crazy that flu is ravaging where you are too - they are saying it is not epidemic but literally everyone has had it here in Cumbria (England) too! I love a good Hallmark film (they call it movies 24 / Christmas 24 here) - I must have watched 30 Xmas films this year - I've flagged up Harvest Moon to watch so now you've given it a good review I'll definitely give it a go! Best Wishes, Europafox x

  12. When I start to feel "blah" about my body, I do the only thing I can to feel an immediate change - I go for a run. Just starting to do SOMETHING...ANYTHING! instantly makes me feel better and from there, it's much easier for my to make healthier food and meal choices. For what it's worth, I think you look great, but I know it's so much more than looks! XOXO

  15. You look gorgeous girl! Love the outfit and your hair is fabulous. My heart breaks over all you have been through with IVF and infertility :( Your faith, strength, and grace in writing about it is so inspiring. Hang in there and know that you are beautiful!

  16. Yes purple shampoo really works!!!! There are all sorts of kinds! Also I know this won't make you feel any better about the self image aspect, you can have everyone in the world tell you you look great but its hard, but you really do look great!

  17. I do love your hair. I wish I wasn't so lazy when it comes to my hair. I thought about buying hair tools this weekend... then I remembered that I'm definitely lazy. #owningit... lol.

  18. I just got my flu shot on Monday along with my daughter. My two other kiddos are set to get theirs in two weeks at their check up. I never get the shot but hearing about all those kids dying made me step to it.

I need to get on the purple shampoo too for my highlights. I am pretty sure whatever brand of shampoo you use probably sells a purple version. I've seen them at the drugstore (I think).

I echo the same thing others have said that you look fantastic! But, how you feel and how you think you look can totally mess with your mood and so many other things. I am glad to hear you are trying to give yourself some grace. And I completely understand how it can still be hard. You're not alone!

  19. I love reading your blog and I love that you share your journey through IVF. I really can't imagine what you are going through but I pray for you often and I hope you will continue to share your journey. I have so many friends going through the same process and I know others thoughts and emotions have helped them feel like they are not alone
