Weekend Recap!

Monday, January 29, 2018

Wow!  What a weekend!  I feel like I got zero rest and that I need to sleep about 14 hours to catch up on lost sleep.  I've already started thinking about next weekend and if I'll get to sleep in any, but I won't at all because Dustin and I have something really fun that we're doing!  Maybe I'll sleep the next weekend ha!

My dad had surgery Thursday, so Thursday was the longest day of my life.  He stayed overnight in the hospital and my sister (who's a nurse) stayed with him.  I had to go to work Friday, so I left the hospital Thursday night to come home.  Dad had just gotten home right before I got through with school Friday so I spent the afternoon with him, went to the grocery store, and then went back to his house that evening.

Dustin got home 8:30ish Friday night after dropping his buck off at the processor.  I think I went to bed at 9:30 Friday night which was way later than I wanted to.

We were up bright and early Saturday morning because Dustin forgot to turn his alarm off 😏.  We went to the gym together and then I had to get coffee if I was going to make it that day.  Then I finished up grocery shopping and went back to my dad's to stay with him for a while.

We went and saw 12 Strong that evening and it was SO good!  I highly recommend it, and at the end of the movie, they had some writing on the screen that said that there's also a book written about that military mission--Horse Soldiers.  It's definitely a book I want to read.  Oh, and we went to the theater with recliners and it was my favorite!

I am a huge proponent of wearing comfy clothes to the movies, but since it was a Saturday night and we were going out to eat after, I couldn't just wear leggings and tennies.  This is my favorite nice-comfy outfit.

Anyone use this foundation?  I currently use the Makeup Forever Ultra HD foundation and I'm looking for something with a little more coverage.

Dustin was called into work Sunday so I went to church by myself, caught up on a few tv shows, went to my dad's, and then D and I went to celebrate my stepdad's birthday that evening.

I hope y'all have a great Monday!!

Friday Favs!

Friday, January 26, 2018

Happy Friday, y'all!  Today's post is short and sweet!

I watch Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles and it's got me wanting to redecorate our home completely!  That's definitely never happening, so I've started thinking about what we'll do when we build our next house.  I love the white with black interior windows or railings--basically Emily Jackson's home haha!  Dustin isn't on board, but he always wasn't on board with anything I picked out for our current home until he saw it all together.

I finally got to wear this dress to school this week.  It's 50% off now so it's less than $30!  I would definitely say it runs true to size.  I'm 5'7" and the length is just long enough to wear to school--any shorter and it wouldn't be appropriate.

My Walmart workout tank and Target cropped pants look like a complete matching set.  I wore this to the gym Wednesday, and I don't know if you're anything like me, but matching workout clothes give me the extra boost to have a great workout!

I have THE BEST little sister ever!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Coffee Talk

Tuesday, January 23, 2018

Hi friends!  Let's pretend we're getting coffee at a coffee shop and chatting over a skinny vanilla latte!
Trying the new blonde espresso!  And please ignore my bedroom.  I wash our sheets every Sunday, and Dustin leaves his clothes everywhere every day.

-I've heard that using purple shampoo for blonde hair makes your hair blonder.  Is that true, and if so, where can I buy it?!

-I've been watching Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian since the very first episode.  Watching it always motivates me to eat better and work out harder (or work out at all ha).  Anyone else feel the same way?

-Speaking of Khloe and her awesome show, I have been feeling horrible about my own body  since last month.  IVF has really affected my hormones and my weight.  I'm really trying to give myself some grace during this time, but I'll be honest, it's hard.  I've thought about writing a post about this but I'm not sure.

-I'm embarrassed to say this, but I just got my flu shot Sunday.  So if you're like me, it's not too late!!  The flu epidemic in Alabama is pretty scary, and I'm trying to protect myself and those around me.

-I watched a Hallmark movie from the fall that I recorded but hadn't seen yet.  It was called Harvest Wedding (it was new this past fall), and it was so good!  Y'all know I love Hallmark movies, but yes, some are boring and so predictable (even for me).  But Harvest Wedding was so, so good!!

-I've been getting lots of compliments about my hair ever since I've started using my new wand to curl it.  This is the exact wand I have!  It's wonderful!

Friday Favorites!

Friday, January 19, 2018

Happy Friday!!  It's been the LONGEST week ever πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Just kidding!  We've been out for snow and icy road conditions, so yesterday was our first day back to school since last Thursday and we still went two hours late.

I've got a few FAVORITES to share with you today!

I tried this top on in LOFT the other day and loved the fit of it.  It doesn't look the best here, but would look so cute once I styled it.  The only thing I didn't like was that they were out of my size in a pastel color.  Well, LOFT is having a sale on their sale items today and this top is an extra 50% off and they have the pastel colors I liked!!

And yesterday I shared a Reintroduction post about myself for those of you who may be new around here, so check that out!

This has been my snow day attire this past week--so fancy, huh?!  Don't you wish you had my old cheer t-shirt with the letters coming off?? haha!  I am wearing my new slippers that Dustin got me for Christmas and they are the best thing ever!  I wasn't the biggest fan at first because my feet kept slipping out of them when I walked, but it just took me wearing them inside all the time to smoosh the inside fur down a little.

I wish I would have taken a picture of the final amount of snow we got, but it's a little more than this.  Dustin had to go into work on Tuesday and that was the morning the snow started.  I definitely had a little cabin fever that day since I was home alone and couldn't leave.

Has anyone heard of the 2 ingredient pizza dough?  It's an equal ratio of self-rising flour and non-fat Greek yogurt.  I tried it out earlier this week and made pizzas, and it was so good!!

I wrote about this earlier this month, but I've started going to a boot camp workout class at my gym twice a week after school.  It's intense and an hour long, so I have to drink an amino acid drink when I get home each time to help my muscles recover (and basically allow me to walk the next day ha).  If you've never drank amino acids after a tough workout, you are missing out!

Remember when I mentioned in December about how Dustin bought himself an item off of his own Christmas list??  He bought himself the electric smoker he wanted and that made trying to buy for him much harder since he bought himself one of his big items.  Well, last night he smoked his first boston butt and it was good!  I was very proud of him!

A Reintroduction

Thursday, January 18, 2018

Hi friends!!  I've seen several new faces around here and IG in the past six months or so, and since my friend Emily is hosting a fun link up today, I thought I'd reintroduce myself to those of you who are new!

If you've read my blog before or are new, please leave me a comment below!  I love talking with my readers!!  (If you are a no-reply blogger, I will have to reply back to you on this post instead of in email.)

My name is Sarah and I am from (and still live in) a small town in Alabama.  I teach seventh grade English in the same junior high where I went and with some of the same teachers that I had--which is always so fun!

I married the perfect person for me on July 26, 2014.  You can see all of my wedding posts here.

Other than molding young minds (πŸ˜‚) and blogging, I have many hobbies!  I enjoy reading, cooking, looking at clothes and buying (some of) them, reality tv, sending/receiving snail mail, exercising, drinking expensive coffee, vacationing, watching IG stories, and sitting in book stores or libraries for hours.

I'm not sure if having a birthday can be considered a hobby, but I love my birthdays because that's the one day that's all about me πŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ #notconceitedatall  #imreallynot

And I love any excuse to dress up!

Recently, I just did a post on 10 Facts About Me, so you should definitely check that out to learn more.

Last August, Dustin and I decided to share publicly our struggle with infertility.  We've gone through multiple rounds of Femara and Clomid, 3 IUIs (or 4?), 1 surgery for endometriosis, 3 rounds of IVF meds, 2 egg retrievals, 1 fresh embryo transfer, and most recently, 1 frozen embryo transfer.  Nothing has worked, but our hope and trust is still, and has always been, in God.  If you'd like to read about our struggle with infertility, click here.

The most important thing you need to know about me--and the most important part of my life--is that I am a follower of Christ.  I strive every day to live my life in a way that brings glory to God.  If you have any questions about my faith, please email me at because I would LOVE to talk to you!
"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

Currently Loving vol. 1

Wednesday, January 17, 2018

If you've been following the weather lately, you probably noticed where the South received snow and ice this week.  It started snowing yesterday morning for us and things quickly got icy--that meant I was stuck at home while Dustin was working.  (And we're out again today!)  Our first snow day started Friday with a light dusting and now today which means I've been living in athleisure 24/7 lately.  I blogged my favorite look here last week.

I've had plenty of time lately to browse the internet and came across a few things I'm loving currently!

I love the color of this blue pullover!  I'm not the biggest fan of hoods, but this one looks so comfortable (and it's on sale!) that I could probably get over the fact that it had a hood!  How do you feel about hoods?

This gray pullover is longer in the back so it would be perfect to put on to run errands or go out to lunch with friends or to just wear all the time haha!  And it's on sale, too!  I wish there were another color other than gray, but you can't beat this price!

I've heard such great things about these Zella Live In leggings so I'm wondering if they live up to the hype.  I love a midi inseam--longer than crop but a little shorter than a regular length.  If you own a pair of Zella Live Ins, do you love them?

Okay, this is not athletic wear BUT I'm a huge fan of jumpsuits and love this one!  How cute would this be for a summer wedding or a night out?  You would obviously want to wear it with heels to elongate your legs, but black is the perfect color to start with before you dress it up with accessories!

What are some things you are currently loving?

10 Facts About Me

Monday, January 15, 2018

Happy Monday, y'all!!  I don't have much of a weekend update for y'all because I totally failed at taking pictures, so I thought I'd do what my friend Laura does every once in a while.....list a few facts about me.  It's always so interesting to learn about other bloggers, so maybe you'll see that we have something in common!

at my cousin's house on Christmas morning 2017

1. On days that Dustin works, my goal is to have supper ready when he walks in the door a little after 6pm.

2. I started a really bad habit in December and it got worse during Christmas break--buying a flavored coffee every day.  My go-to drink of choice is also pretty healthy so I don't feel too bad about that--a skinny vanilla latte.  I'd love to order something with more sugar (like a white chocolate mocha....yum!), but when you get one almost every day, you've got to be healthy haha!

3. I can paint my own nails, but I don't enjoy it.

4. I keep a running list on my phone of baby names.  I started this right after Dustin and I got married before we even thought about children.  Every time I come across a name I like, I add it to my list.

5. I do not like to have any dirty dishes in the sink at all....especially since we have an open floor plan and the sink is always visible.  As soon as a dish is used, I either wash it or stick it in the dishwasher (and want D to do the same).

6. I used to eat breakfast as soon as I would wake up in the morning because it's something my dad did so I did, too.  Now it's very rare that I eat as soon as I wake up.  I can go 3 hours before eating breakfast most mornings which is a huge difference from when I was younger.

7. I also keep a list on my phone of our paint colors and the finish used in our home because I know one day I'll forget.

8.  I love The Today Show (except for Megyn Kelly....yuck!).  Dylan Dryer's hair is my favorite, and I want to be Hoda's bff!

9. I am constantly drinking water.

10. I do 1-2 loads of laundry a day because someone in my house wears 15 million articles of clothing a day 😜  (Edit to clarify: These loads aren't all clothes...some are towels, sheets, delicates, and regular clothes.)

Friday Favorites!

Friday, January 12, 2018

Happy Friday!!  I'm coming at y'all Friday morning with today's post because school was cancelled for today due to the threat of serious weather.  I got the call last night while I was catching up on WAGS Atlanta (πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚), so I opted to just write today's post this morning.

I've got a couple of FAVORITES to share with y'all today and then I can't wait to catch up on blog reading from this week!

-I started going to a new workout class at my gym last week, and I've gone to 3 classes so far.  It's definitely my favorite right now because it's a bootcamp style class and works every single part of my body.  I mean, I have places that are sore that I didn't know could be sore haha!

Dustin is superstitious in that he has to wear the same clothes if Alabama is winning.  When he got home Monday night from work, he immediately put on his "uniform" for the big game. What you can't see is the Alabama coaches' polo underneath his pullover haha!

I wore this to school on Wednesday and if you watched my IG stories, this is the skirt I spilled soup all over.  It's a suede skirt (and my favorite!) and I was nervous I wouldn't be able to get it out, but I did!

And I've gotten lots of comments about my hair lately.  I got a new wand for Christmas, and I'm able to curl my hair in about 10-15 minutes, so you'll see my hair curly a lot now.  This is the exact wand I got.

Hailey (who also teaches English with me) and I ran to Walmart yesterday after school to get a few items for a fun thing we're doing in English Tuesday.  I really like having a partner teacher who is my friend outside of school, too!

And when I put this on Facebook, FB tagged me as my mom......EVERY TIME πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Wednesday I shared my favorite outfit lately!  All the details for my outfit are in this post!

Athleisure FOREVER

Wednesday, January 10, 2018

Sweatshirt (on sale) and similar | leggings (and less expensive option) | shoes (mine are sold out but these are similar) | sunglasses | water bottle

Photography: RAW Images

This outfit has been on repeat lately for me.  It's literally the most comfortable clothing to put on to lounge around the house or to run errands in.  I only wish that this were school appropriate because I would wear something like this every single day haha!  I know I would be so much more productive if I could teach in leggings and tennies 😜

On another note, I'm still recovering from staying up WAY past my bedtime to watch the National Championship.  It was a stressful game for me to watch and I even had to take a Tums before I went to bed haha!!  I went to Alabama, so I was a sophomore during Saban's first year as a coach for us.  It was my senior year when we made it to the National Championship game against Texas, and it was played in the Rose Bowl.  I went to that game and have THE BEST memories from that trip with three of my other friends!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Life Lately

Monday, January 8, 2018

Happy Monday!  It's been a while, so I'm glad to be back today😊  Since I haven't blogged in a while, I'm bring a life lately to y'all today!

This post contains affiliate links at no extra cost to you.  Thank you for supporting Meet the Shaneyfelts blog!

Before Christmas, Dustin and I checked off driving around and looking around at Christmas lights together.  During our first married Christmas, I named our Christmas light looking the "Shaneyfelt Christmas Light Drive By" because Dustin drove so fast by the houses that I couldn't even take in the lights.  The next year he learned to drive slower, so I renamed it the "Shaneyfelt Christmas Light Creep By" that year πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Christmas morning opening our stockings first

Dustin had an overfill bag for his stocking ha!

Christmas morning!  (And Dustin's hair looks GREAT πŸ˜‚)

Christmas morning brunch with my little sister and cousin--we grew up playing together every single day

With my dad  (Also, Roll Tide for tonight!!)

We went to my mom's Christmas night

 Found this dress at Anthropologie

lipstick color (M401)
On New Year's Eve, we had to do an early dinner because Dustin had work SUPER early the next morning.  I'm talking--we were at the restaurant at 5:15 and were seated immediately ha

Now that I'm able to work out again, workouts started on New Years day!  And how great does my hair look?!  I got a new wand for Christmas and the invisibobble hair ties.  At night, I sleep with my hair on top of my head using that hair tie and it keeps my curls perfect!  I only have to touch up the ones around my face.

And later that day I was in Kroger in a rush to grab salad stuff before we went to our friends' home for dinner and the playoff games, and I dropped the tomatoes.  They rolled all over, so I grabbed a photo of a small area of the damage ha!  I had to crawl all over picking up those tomatoes 😜
