Weekend Recap: Memorial Day 2016 Edition

Tuesday, May 31, 2016

Yesterday was jam-packed with family time.  I wish I could say that I was spending today recuperating and relaxing--except that I have lots to accomplish off of my list since yesterday was so busy!

I started off the morning with a short 1-mile run and squats and a plank.  Then Dustin and I headed to meet up with my dad's side of the family to decorate my gran's grave.  This is something we do together each year.

Then we headed up to my mom and stepdad's house for a cookout and some homemade ice cream!

This is where I get my love of aprons from :)

Getting ready for a self-timed family picture

Then we headed home to change clothes and play golf (I drove the golf cart)

Eight of us makes for 5 hours of golf playing!  It was really hot and really long and I was over it after 2 hours.  But I was glad to be able to spend time with my family today!

They teamed up on the back 9 and this team came in 2nd--Dustin and my cousin Alex played a good game!

I am thankful for the men and women who serve in the US military and have made sacrifices that make fun days like yesterday possible.  We live in a country where we don't have to fear for our safety, and because of that, I am thankful for those who risked it all!

How was your Memorial Day?

  1. Ok your mom is too cute, I see where you get it from! :-) I would be over 5 hours of golf too. At least they have a beer cart, right? ;-)

  2. What a lovely day! So awesome that you guys decorate your gran's grave - very special. I think I would be over 5 hours of golfing, too. At least you got to drive the cart. :)

  3. How cute is your mom!! 5 hours of golf, you're a trooper! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  4. Hehe, I used to always drive the cart when my hubs golfed, too. I don't think I could hit a golf ball if my life depended on it.

  5. My golf experience is limited to cart driver only. I tried to play once. He's never let me or asked me to play again. HA!

  6. 5 hours of golf makes for a super long game - props to you girl! Have a great day! -xx Leah || Chasing Texas

  7. The cookout sounds fabulous and I love that you had homemade ice cream!
