Sense of Sarah: My Personal Style

I don't know if I've ever mentioned this before on the blog, but clothes are my passion.  I almost majored in fashion merchandising/retail instead of English because I dreamed of working for a big department store as a buyer.  Instead, I felt like God was calling me to teach English--that'll be a post for another day!

I was so excited when I saw that Andrea was hosting a Show and Tell Tuesday today to share your personal style because that also fit perfectly with a Sense of Sarah post!

Before I describe what I feel like my personal style is, I thought I would ask a few of those closest to me to tell me what they think my style is--they were all really nice with what they said about me haha!

"Casual and sophisticated"-Kristi

"Classy southern"-Dustin

"Fashion forward, trendy, bold.  You are braver than me with patterns and such."-Sarah

"Kate Middleton"-my mom (love her haha)

"You are good at taking classic, staple pieces and making them look ultra trendy."-Hailey

I tend to describe my style as classic, but I like mixing in a lot of different styles, too.  My favorite stores are Anthropologie, GAP, Banana Republic, and J.Crew.

I love my Patagonia and I wear it year-round.  I know that sounds crazy but it keeps me warm in the winter and then doesn't make me sweat during warmer months when I get cold.  It has got to be the fabric that makes it like that!

And I wear these shoes anytime I want to dress down skinny jeans and look casual.  They were the best during the fall and winter months!

I am long-waisted so when I find a romper that fits, I buy it!  This one came from Anthropologie, but they're already sold out.
Find one similar here and here.

And these Sam Edelman sandals are my #1 favorite!  I have the both the nude and black and I'm looking to add leopard print this summer--that's a neutral right?

I LOVE chambray.  I would wear it all the time if I could because it's so comfortable and it goes with everything!  This chambray dress is similar to mine.  This one is a cheaper version.
And if you're a teacher, you need these OTBT shoes.  I can stand all day in them and my feet never hurt.

So another chambray item :)  This top is an older Cloth and Stone shirt from Victoria but this is similar.  I love the Cloth and Stone brand--it washes well and is ultra-classic.

These jeans are new and are my new obsession.  I used to have a pair of white Lilly jeans when I weighed a lot more, but since I lost weight, I haven't found a pair that lived up to my old Lilly jeans.  I also didn't want to pay the $180 price tag on the Lilly jeans.  I tried on a million different white jeans and just couldn't find a pair that wasn't see through.  Then I walked into J.Crew.  These jeans in the matchstick fit are the most comfortable jeans and aren't see through at all!  Plus, J.Crew gives a teacher discount!  Oh yeah!

I got this dress to wear on our cruise, but I'm wearing it as much as I can before we leave!  I love Lilly so much, but I go through phases where I want to wear bold clothes with crazy prints and then I don't.  Right now, I'm in a bold and bright phase :)

I really love the back of this dress, too.

  12. We have very similar styles! I love that chambray top and I'm so with you on finding a romper for a long waisted body! I have long legs and a long torso so rompers are near impossible for me to find. Love the one you have! -xx Leah || Chasing Texas
