Weekend Recap

This weekend was great, and what made it so great was the fact that Dustin and I were able to spend the WHOLE ENTIRE WEEKEND TOGETHER!!!  And that's in all caps because we haven't spent a whole weekend together with few commitments.  Saturday was my favorite because we were together all day long--can you tell I was dying for some quality time together?? Haha!

Friday

I colored my hair Thursday and did the "balayage" (check out this link to learn more about this trend) look for something that's low maintenance.  Blonde hair is expensive!  I think I'll keep this look until my next appointment in late October and then I'm going back blonde because I think I look so much better blonde.  And this is a half-smile because I was so exhausted by the end of the week.

Friday night our small group got together for game night and it was so much fun!  We played Battle of the Sexes and a game on a phone that was similar to catchphrase.  I passed out in bed around 11 AND that was with a nap before heading to game night.

Saturday

Dustin and I went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast after sleeping in!  I enjoy getting up early on the weekends to enjoy the days but I really needed to sleep in Saturday.  When I say sleep in, I mean 8:15....isn't that sleeping in?

I deep cleaned the house after breakfast and went to the gym around lunch time.  I ran 15 minutes to get my heart rate up and then did a bunch of weight exercises--kettle bell, medicine ball, exercise ball.

We worked on centering our TV...again.  We mounted it a month ago when we moved in but it wasn't centered.  We left it because it was so much work mounting it.  But with my sister having an AdvoCare mixer at my house yesterday, that spurred us on to centering it and hiding all of the cords.

Sunday

Church and then Rachel's AdvoCare mixer.  The TV is as centered as it's going to get, and we had to bring the bluray player in from the bedroom to show a movie, so that's why those cords are there.  I'm waiting until tomorrow to decorate for fall and then that mantle will be decorated!

I did a little blogging while catching up on Bachelor in Paradise.

And I cooked supper and read a little in my Southern Living at the same time.  I don't have much time to read for fun while I'm in grad school, so I have to fit in reading when I can.  I'm just waiting on May when I can resume my reading for pleasure!

Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday!!!  I am so glad to see Friday here and ready for the weekend!  I'm linking up with Andrea today for Friday Favorites :)

This Friday Favorites post is going to be short but dedicated to my husband--he's my #1 FAVORITE!  He's most definitely my favorite and he's been working so much lately, so I feel like we haven't spent any quality time together.  Thankfully he's off all weekend and we're spending the whole weekend together--even though we've got a lot planned, we'll be together!

Dustin left Monday morning to head south to his hunting land to get it ready for hunting season.  He's such a list maker for EVERYTHING and I only make lists sometimes.  When I got home Monday afternoon from school I found this list on our bed.  I love that he had to remind himself to take his billfold haha!  Oh and if you haven't picked up on it, he's a Type I diabetic so all of those diabetic supplies are super important!

So while he was gone to his hunting land, I went to Kroger and saw the cutest ceramic pumpkins!  I told him all about how cute they would look on our front porch Monday and then Tuesday afternoon when he got home.  Tuesday night was the kickoff for the women's ministry at my church and when I got home that night, these beautiful pumpkins were waiting on me!  I love that he went to Kroger and bought these for me while I was gone!  We immediately took them out front and set them on the porch so I could see what they would look like.  I'm decorating for fall on September 1st so I can't wait to put them out!!!

What's Up Wednesday--August 2015

I am linking up with Shay today to participate in the What's Up Wednesday post for this month!

What we're eating this week...
Dustin was gone Monday and Tuesday so I ate whatever was here.  Tonight he's eating crockpot chicken-n-dumplins and making taco salad for Thursday night.  We'll figure something out for Friday.

What I'm reminiscing about...
Alabama football!!  This was a game we went to a couple of years ago and the weather this week has me really thinking about football season!  I can't wait!

What I'm loving...

These items I picked up at Home Goods last weekend--I am so in love with that bench and I lucked up on getting a discount too.  And I can't wait to set out my fall decorations, too.

What we've been up to...
Working on the house and furnishing it.  We're buying a little at a time.  Each paycheck Dustin and I decide what we're going to buy with our leftover money--I buy things for the house and he gets stuff for the garage or yard.  Lately he's been buying things for the yard to work on making our sod greener and getting rid of weeds that have started sprouting up in random places.

What I'm dreading...
I can't think of anything that I'm dreading??  Maybe having to work on grad school classes??

What I'm working on...
Speaking of grad school, that's what I'm working on lately.  My fall one term started back up and I'm taking 6 hours.  They aren't the most exciting classes but they are two classes closer to finishing!

What I'm excited about...
FALL WEATHER!!!  Actually fall everything!
I love this quote by F. Scott Fitzgerald about fall.  There's something renewing in the air when it begins to get crisp.

And of course, if you know me then you know how much I love Christmas time.  I went to Hobby Lobby to get a few fall decorations for the house and had to walk down the Christmas aisles.  I seriously contemplated buying a few things so I could get a head start but I got overwhelmed and decided to come back once I figured out the route I want to take. My tree is really neutral but I also want some red and green in the house--I've just got to decide where in the house I'm putting things.

What I'm watching/reading...
I'm waiting on Grey's and Scandal to return in September!!  I just finished The Astronaut Wives Club and LOVED it.  I had a friend order the book it was based off of so I can't wait to hear what she says.  I'm reading stuff for grad school--yuck.

What I'm listening to...
The Alabama Shakes--check out this post.

What I'm wearing...
These are two newer items of clothing I've gotten lately and I'm loving them.
Top and jeans from GAP.  Necklace from Esther's Hope.

Dress from Anthropologie.

What I'm doing this weekend...
Game night with my small group from church, hanging out at home, going to my dad's high school graduation party reunion, and my sister's Advocare party.

What I'm looking forward to next month...
FALL!

What else is new...
Not much is new!  We are settled into our house and it's looking like a home.  I am waiting on September 1st to decorate it for fall--I am loving living in a neighborhood :)

The Alabama Shakes Concert!

Last Thursday night my dad treated Dustin, my sister Rachel, and I to a concert at the Tuscaloosa Ampitheater!  We saw the Alabama Shakes!!!!!  Yes, it was on a school night but you can't say no to the Shakes in concert.

Before you scroll down to see the pictures, let me just say that it had been raining in Alabama for over a week and it was sooooo humid--and of course, the venue was outdoors!  That will explain why I look like a homeless person.

Walking up to the amphitheater.
The Tuscaloosa police blocks off these roads because this is the only way to get into the venue.  People are wearing rain jackets and those clouds in the background will turn to rain clouds soon :(

So my dad didn't realize that when he bought General Admission tickets that GA meant no seats.  So here we are on the floor right by the stage!  I was super excited because look at how close we were!  And please look at the giant in the background.  When you're at least 6'7", you don't need to be front and center.

Love him!

Only one of us looks super excited to be in standing room only--and so close to the stage!

I had to take this picture to show how close we were!!

Four songs into the opener's set, a lady comes on stage to tell us there was a lightening storm and that the show had been suspended and everyone needed to evacuate the amphitheater.  I thought to myself, "You've got to be kidding me.  We just drove 2 hours for this concert--I am going to watch the Alabama Shakes perform!!"

We all headed under the overpass to wait out the storm (and secretly be able to be the first in line to get back in).....

....until Rachel said it was too dangerous and wanted to go sit in the car.

And they reopened the gates after 9 PM and the Shakes were set to begin at 9:30.  This was our spot after re-entry :(  I was so sad!  But the concert was awesome and I'm hoping to see them again sometime!!!

Weekend Recap!

This past weekend was glorious.  After my first full week at school and my grad school term starting back, I needed this weekend in more ways than one.  I was able to relax a little and get the million things done that I had on my To Do list.

Friday

Dustin worked nights this weekend so Friday night Rachel and I went to the re-opening of a local ice cream shop.  It turns out that one of my student's family owns this ice cream shop and they've spent the past several months re-building it.  I saved up my points all day for this special treat and it did not disappoint.  I accidentally got the wrong kind of ice cream because I was too busy talking to my student and his parents but what I got actually tasted pretty great.

After I left Rachel with a friend (I felt like her mom ha!), I stopped by Target on my way home to pick up a shower curtain for our upstairs bathroom.  This will be the third shower curtain I've bought for that bathroom because if you know me, then you know that everything I want is white--and I've been trying to get out of my comfort zone and pick something with color for this bathroom.  Nothing looked right so I bit the bullet and bought an all white shower curtain and it looks perfect.

While I was at Target I saw a display of the new Essie gel setter polish, and I had just read my favorite blogger, Shay's, Friday Favorites post with this exact nail polish.  I bought it and painted my nails that night.  I forgot to take a picture of my nails but I am loving this polish.  It's very fallish but I'm so ready for fall right now that I don't even care!

Saturday

Saturday morning I went to the gym and had a great workout session.  I've been trying to incorporate more weights into my workouts and I was very pleased with my workout that morning.

Then I went over to my sister's to photograph her house for September's House Tour Tuesday post. (I'll either post that September 1st or 8th.)  I'm excited about this post since she's in a rental house right now so you will get to see how someone is able to make a rental house homey.  This is August's House Tour Tuesday post.

Here is a sneak peek of Rachel's house!

After Dustin headed to work Saturday evening, I headed to Huntsville do a little shopping before I met my mom and stepdad for dinner.  I needed filler pillows for the shams for our new bedding and wanted to check out Home Goods for an upholstered bench for our living room.

I ended up getting everything I needed!  I lucked out at Home Goods and found the perfect bench, but it happened to have a little stain on it--that you can't see unless you are looking for it.  I got them to discount the bench to where it was under the budget I had set for myself!!  The only problem??  Fitting it into my car AND beating a thunderstorm that was on it's way.  There were a few nice people who stopped to ask if I needed help (I was wearing OTBT wedges and if you know what those look like, they are high!  I'm sure I looked like a crazy woman!) and a few people stare at me ha!  It took me a while but I managed to maneuver it into my car.  I also had items in my front floor board and trunk.  I put this on instagram (@saraheshaneyfelt)--I need an SUV!!

Here's the bench in the house!  I'm hoping to move that picture somewhere else and put a few pictures on that wall but when you build a house and are newly married, you don't have much, so until then, the picture stays!

And a few of the other goodies I got at Home Goods!  The Halloween plate to display in my kitchen during October (I already had the plate holder), the greenery for our bedroom, and the most beautiful glass pumpkin for fall decor!  You can't really tell, but the pumpkin is burnt orange at the bottom.

Sadly, I didn't take any pictures of my family eating Saturday night but it was yummy!

Sunday

Sunday was pretty laid back so I didn't take any pictures.  I went to church while Dustin slept since he worked off Sunday morning.  I wasn't feeling too great so I came home and napped while he went to his parents to get stuff ready to go work at his hunting land.  He came home, we hung out after I woke up, I stopped by my dad's after D left for work to see both of my sisters, went to Walmart, and watched the Hallmark movie channel--which is my favorite channel!

Friday Favorites!

Hallelujah--it's Friday!!!!!

This was our first full week back to school with the kids, and even though my kids are great, I'm still adjusting to talking all day long.  It's taking a little longer than normal because this was our first married summer, and when Dustin would be at work, if I were home I wouldn't have anyone to talk to.

I'm linking up with Andrea for Friday Favorites!

ONE

I started off Monday forgetting to cut the tags off of my new FAVORITE jeans.  I've always loved jeans from GAP because they fit my body so well and these were their newest jean.  You can't see really well in this picture, but these jeans are a dark olive green.  The are the Resolution fit.

TWO

Monday was also super awesome (insert straight face emoji) because our TV and internet were out at home.  A FAVORITE moment was being able to go to my sister's house and borrow her internet and watch TV with her since Dustin was on nights.

It had been pouring all day.  (And it's actually poured all week.  No fun.)

THREE

I LOVE THIS COSTUME!!!!  It's definitely a FAVORITE and it's found at Cracker Barrel.  I couldn't believe it!  Where were the Halloween costumes like this when I was little?  Seeing this costume made me excited for Halloween which then made me excited for fall.  Where are you, fall??

FOUR

The Abide Women's Ministry is my absolute FAVORITE!!  We are going to be going through Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life by Don Whitney this year and our kickoff celebration is on Tuesday.  We're having a trunk show for Esther's Hope.  These were a few of the items we got to preview on Wednesday night.  Don't you know I need that necklace for the exact outfit I have one?

Check out this video that our small group leaders made for our upcoming year.

The Guy Behind the Blog!

I saw this little series on a blog I came across back in the spring and decided to adjust it to make it my own.  I've been blogging for almost a year and couldn't have gotten started without the support of my husband.  I think he was a little skeptical at first, but now he realized how big the blogging community is and he's extremely supportive!

I asked D a few questions so that y'all could know him a little better.  (And I learned a little bit too ha!  And he talks so much except for when I asked him these questions...then he gave the shortest answers ever!)

1. What are 3 things on your Bucket List?
Go on a big game hunt in, like, Canada, became a father and raise my kid to be a great ballplayer, and become successful in a business venture

2. What are your hobbies?
Hunting, fishing, college football, and outdoor conservation

3. If you could look out your window everyday and see only one view for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
The ocean from a remote island or a remote beach house because it lets your mind think--there's no end in sight for what you can see

4. What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a country singer where all the ladies would dig me

5. What's your favorite dish that I cook?
Chicken-n-dumplins

6. Favorite sports team?
Alabama Crimson Tide, Atlanta Braves, Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens

7. If you could have 50 lbs of anything other than money, what would it be and why?
Probably corn so I could put it out and kill deer

8. What's your favorite thing about me?  :)
Your personality, smile, you're genuine

Weekend Recap

This was my first weekend since kids started back to school on Wednesday.  Translation?  I went to bed early every night and did absolutely nothing.  There's just something about getting back into the swing of things at the beginning of a school year that just wears a teacher out!  I told Dustin to think of it this way--while he was working this summer and I was at home, I talked to no one.  Now I'm talking constantly all day long and at an elevated voice level for all of my students to hear.  I. AM. SO. TIRED.

Friday

I took zero pictures.  I got home.  Laid on the couch for a little bit.  Dustin and I decided to go out to eat because I had no energy to cook.  Then I fought sleep until I decided to go to be at 9 o'clock.

Saturday

I slept 11 glorious hours!  I don't even think I slept that long all summer so you know I was exhausted.

I got out and ran 3 miles = tough.  I let my running slide this summer because of the heat.  Hopefully I'll have time this week to go run at the gym since it's supposed to rain every day.

Then I cleaned the house, and since it rained most of the day, I read a book.  We also waited around for our mattress to get delivered and they called about 5:30 PM letting us know that the truck had broken down and we couldn't get our mattress until Sunday.

[Side note: We bought a mattress from Mattress Firm two weeks ago.  They delivered a week later.  One of the box springs was broken (apparently king size beds get 2??) and the mattress had black stuff all over the side and part of the top.  They sent us another mattress Friday.  It was even worse--it had lots of black smudges and so Dustin refused it.  I didn't find this out until I came home from school.  Truck broke down Saturday.  At this point, we decided that if we didn't get a mattress on Sunday that we would ask for our money to be refunded and go down the road to another mattress store.]

Sunday

Selfie after church on Sunday!

And then we tried out the self-timer.  We'll need some practice.

The mattress people arrived!!

Dustin's feelings toward this whole mattress process.

I quickly snapped this to show y'all how he went out to greet the delivery guys and talk to them as they brought our mattress in.

And it is a keeper!!!!!  We ended up getting a Tempur-Pedic Flex--which is their latest model--and we can't wait to try it out!  Hopefully no more backaches!

That night Dustin grilled and my dad came to eat with us.  We love having people come eat, and we always pray that our cooking turns out ha!

Friday Favorites!

IT'S FINALLY FRIDAY!!!!!!!  Y'all, I survived my first couple of days back to school and I am so happy the weekend is in sight.  My kids this year seem to be really good--but it's still the first few days of school, so they should be on their best behavior still, right?

As usual, I'm linking up with Andrea for Friday Favorites!

We had our open house Sunday so the students could familiarize themselves with their schedules and meet their teachers.  I love having open house before school officially starts because it's perfectly acceptable to ask each student what his or her name is ha!  The pressure is always on when open house is in September and you're really trying to remember each kid's name as they come to your class with their parents!  This year I'm teaching beside a girl I graduated high school with--she just got hired and I am so thrilled!  Seventh grade English is going to be my FAVORITE this year!

Tuesday night I went to watch Dustin play softball for our church.  The weather felt great, and it was a definite FAVORITE being able to sit and talk with everyone before the craziness that is school started the next day!

First day outfit = a FAVORITE!!!  Also, I only lasted a half day standing in those wedges until I had to change to flats.  My feet will need to be re-trained to stand in heels all day.
 Dress from Anthropologie

Probably my #1 FAVORITE this week--mailing this book back to Amazon!!!!  NEVER AGAIN WILL I EVER TAKE STATISTICS!  (I still hated statistics.)

Second day of school outfit = another FAVORITE!!!  I was a little unsure about buying this dress this past summer because even though it is sooo comfortable, I was afraid it made me look fat.  I walked into school yesterday morning and had a handful of good compliments before school even started.  I'll definitely wear this dress more often now!
Dress from Anthropologie (and on sale now!)

Check out yesterday's post I did for Paul Fredrick!  I think the outfit I created is a definite FAVORITE!

Another FAVORITE of mine?  My Tuesday Home Tour series!!  My first one was on my friend Kristi's home, and it's gorgeous!
