Friday Favorites!

Friday, June 26, 2015

I only have one FAVORITE today and that is the fact that it's MOVING day for us!!  We've waited months for this moment and I can't believe it's finally here.

We started here back in February announcing that we had decided to build!

Then I posted pictures like these along the way documenting the process:

And the final product!

I'll be without internet for a few days (insert crying emoji here) so I won't be blogging as regularly.  But be looking for a house tour in the upcoming weeks!

What's Up Wednesday (6.24.15)

Wednesday, June 24, 2015

I'm linking up with Shay for this month's What's Up Wednesday post!

What we're eating this week...
We're eating a lot random things this week since it's our last week in the apartment.  I've been trying to use up all of the food we have here before we move so that way I can start fresh at the new house....and I don't feel like moving lots of food either.

What I'm reminiscing about...
Friday marks 11 months of being married!  I can't believe that a year ago I was running around thinking about all of the things that still needed to be done for the wedding, and now I'm thinking about all of the things that still need to be done before this move!
My favorite kiss!  (And I love that veil!!!)

What I'm loving...
My Fitbit!  Rachel got one last week so we could compete with our fitness and let's just say that she's really made me competitive with this!  I needed that accountability, so if anyone wants to be friends on Fitbit, send me an email request at saraheshaneyfelt@gmail.com

What we've been up to...
Since this is our first married summer, I've really enjoyed being home during the week days that Dustin is home, too.  His schedule is weird and sometimes he's off during some week days and sometimes he is off on the weekends.  We've loved being able to go to random places during the week.  We recently took a little day trip to Tennessee during the week and it was nice going to places without large crowds.

What I'm dreading...
Every week I dread my statistics work....no joke.  I'm hoping next summer I'm done with my classes for my master's degree and I can relax!

What I'm working on...
Packing, grad school homework, preparing for my weekly Bible study, and everything else

What I'm excited about...
Enjoying the new house and neighborhood!

What I'm watching/reading...
In my "free" time, I watch The Real Housewives of Orange County and The Astronaut Wives Club--which is a new show and I'm loving it!  The best part of the show is the costumes because it's taking place in 1959-1960, so the clothes are gorgeous.
And the only thing I'm reading right now apart from my Bible and book for my Bible study is my statistics and literature textbook.

What I'm listening to...
I've been listening to Dustin talk about the steps it takes to strip, restain, and poly our table and chairs that will go in the new breakfast room.  The table and chairs were an awesome Craigslist find but were an ugly cherry finish--which is not my style at all.  He stripped all of the old stain and varnish and restrained it a dark walnut color.  He did a wonderful job!  If he's going to do something, he researches it so that he can do the best job possible.  He's a perfectionist that way.

What I'm wearing...
Nike shorts, big tshirts, workout/running clothes....nothing fabulous right now.

What I'm doing this weekend...
MOVING!!!!!!  I hope...hopefully all of the paperwork gets done on time so this closing isn't pushed back until Monday.  Apparently rates went up and so tons of people were booking appraisals while they still had rates locked, and this happened at the same time our appraisal was already booked.  It's slowed things down a lot.

What I'm looking forward to next month...
Relaxing in our new home, going to a workshop in Atlanta (which means going to Sprinkles), celebrating Dustin's 30th birthday and our first anniversary, finishing grad school until the fall term.....lots of good things!

What else is new...
I've really been trying to consciously eat healthy although I do crave sweets all the time sometimes.  This food battle is something I will have to deal with forever.  Does anyone have any tips or tricks that help them?

Bonus:  What are you doing for the Fourth of July?
My parents always have a HUGE picnic for the Fourth.  As in, 60-70 people come.  My stepdad is a cattle rancher so he invites a lot of clients and then our family and friends come.  It's always so much fun and the food is to die for!

A Day in the Life--June 22, 2015

Tuesday, June 23, 2015

The last time I did a Day in the Life post was on January 6, 2015.  And that was actually my first one to do.  I decided to do another because I want to be able to read back on the chaos that was my life during the summer of 2015.

I got up early yesterday morning to get my day started since I had a lot to do.

I went outside to run early yesterday morning and ended up just running (faster than normal) a mile and walking 20 extra minutes.  It was so muggy and too early for my body to be moving.

Rachel bought a Fitbit Charge HR last week so she and I could compete.  I'm all about a good competition, so I knew I had a lot of steps to get in today in order to beat her!

I got done running and made my breakfast smoothie--spinach leaves, vanilla Greek yogurt, frozen fruit, and water.  Notice the mess in the background?  We have no dining room table since Dustin stripped the ugly cherry finish off of it and has been restraining it a dark walnut, and our new sofa table is being used to hold all of my grad school work.  Oh, and he left me
one chair to sit in.  He'll redo that chair after we move in.

After I showered, I had to go to the new house to meet the lady who was going to measure for blinds.  I CANNOT WAIT TO MOVE IN!!!

Back at the apartment, I had to work on our grocery list and do a semi-meal plan for the week.  It looks like I have a pretty easy week except that planner is deceiving!  I didn't pencil in the time I will be spending doing statistics and my lit homework....or packing.  And the marked out closing on Wednesday....long story and stressful.

I stopped by the post office to go ahead and forward our mail to the new house!!!

This might have been the cheapest grocery trip ever!  I pretty much just pieced together a meal plan for the week out of things that we already have, so I really just had to make sure Dustin had enough snacks for work this week and just a few odds and ends.

Lunch yesterday was a quinoa dish.  It's Dustin's favorite quinoa dish and the only one he will eat.  I made Enchilada Quinoa Casserole and it was wonderful!!!

I relaxed on the couch studying for my Bible study on Wednesday night while Dustin researched home stuff.

Dustin left for work at 4:15 PM and I finished reading my chapter in the Spiritual Disciplines book.  I took a quick break to look up home security system options while watching Friends in the background.  Can you see the boxes in the background?  They are everywhere.

I ate leftovers from lunch for supper.  I love this casserole and could eat it every week!  Also since we don't have a table right now, we're having to eat our meals either standing up in the kitchen or on the floor in the living room.  I chose to eat on the floor so I could watch a show I had DVR'd.  (We don't eat on the couch because it's an off white.)

I made my powerpoint for Bible study.  It took me around an hour and a half.  I love prepping and teaching this study, but it is time consuming during my summer of grad school :(

I put my workout clothes back on (yeah, they were dirty but oh well) and drove over to Rachel's so we could get our 10,000 steps in today.  We are competitive!!  Oh, and we bought new bedroom furniture, so I can't wait for it to be delivered to the new house!  This furniture that you see in the background will go in our guest bedroom in the new house and I have 2 duvets from Pottery Barn that I used in college.  I'll put one of them on the bed after we get our new furniture.

Rachel's dog, Ralph, likes to pretend he's a cat.

Before our walk last night!  We walked a little over 30 minutes and it was so nice!  We decided that once I move and Rachel starts her new job, we'll swap out where we walk.

Before bed last night, I took my nightly shower, watched a little HGTV, and did my quiet time.  Tuesday will be filled with statistics and getting started on my lit that's due Saturday...eek!

Happy Tuesday!

Weekend Recap!

Monday, June 22, 2015

I am extremely thankful for my husband's job, but I sure do love it when he has the entire weekend off!  That actually happened this past weekend, so we spent it at the lake with my BFF and her husband!  (And I'm really horrible at taking pictures so I really need to work on that!)

Friday was insane.  I spent the majority of the day running errands for the new house.  I still had about 1/3 of my statistics homework to do before we left for the lake, and the errands I was running took a lot longer than I had anticipated.  Dustin spent the entire day working on our breakfast room table and chairs--he had already stripped them and was staining them on Friday.  I had to run up to my mom's so I took my statistics homework to do while I was there....and I brought my sheets to wash.  You know, to kill two birds with one stone.  I finished my homework just in time to rush home to pack because we needed to be on the road by 6 PM.

Unfortunately, earlier that afternoon a man had been killed on the interstate and they shut it down.  So not only was traffic being rerouted for that but there was also a music festival going on and there was a ton of traffic for that.  What should have taken us 1.5 hours took us 4 hours.  This is our interstate selfie.

This is my best friend, Janie, on Friday night.  She has a hard time staying awake--yes, it was super late by the time this was taken, but she was the only one asleep :)  She's going to love that I put this picture up ha!

I'm not even going to put any pictures of us from Saturday on the lake.  We looked rough!  But we had a great time floating in the lake and riding the jet ski.  I can't wait to go back.  Next time, we hope our other best friend can go...she was on an anniversary trip this weekend with her husband, so she obviously skipped out on the lake :)

Father's Day with my dad!  This was taken at my sister Rachel's house.

I didn't get any pictures from visiting my stepdad or my father-in-law on Father's Day.  Does anyone else have a hard time remembering to take pictures?

I'll be doing a Day in the Life post tomorrow so that I can remember the chaos in my life right now that is grad school, leading a women's Bible study, and moving.  :)

Friday Favorites! (6.19.15)

Friday, June 19, 2015

Yay for Friday!  As a teacher, every day is like the weekend to me, but I'm actually happy today is Friday because we have a fun weekend planned.  We're going on a little weekend getaway with my BFF and her husband!

I'm linking up with Andrea for Friday Favorites today :)

Last weekend I took my dad to see Jurassic World for Father's Day.  The whole Jurassic Park franchise is my FAVORITE (except the 2nd movie) and this one may have been super fake but I loved every minute of it!  I was a little unsure of watching it in 3D but it wasn't that bad.  We took this picture before the movie started and this was before I had to put on my real glasses and then the 3D glasses on top :(  #badeyesightprobs

My church has a Women's Ministry and our study for this coming year is Donald Whitney's Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life.  I'm leading this study with the small group leaders this summer and it's been a definite FAVORITE so far.  I've been really bad at memorizing Scripture so I'm really being intentional in that this summer.  I started with Psalm 19:14.  My friend, Sarah, sent this screen lock picture to me that she found on the She Reads Truth app.

This past week marked two years since we got engaged.  This is a FAVORITE memory of mine because the story is so funny.  Dustin lied to tricked me into looking for his mom's cell phone that she had "dropped" by the pond earlier that day.  This was taken after he proposed and I was checking my awesome ring out.  I'm very private about relationship things and so he knew I didn't want someone hiding out taking our pictures.  But he was also smart enough to know I would want to see pictures someday so he hid a game camera and so this picture was off the game camera!!  The donkey just had to see what was going on!

Another FAVORITE is that I ran in the heat earlier this week and survived!  My pace was much better than I expected.  I've really got to get better at getting up early like twice a week to run.  Because we all know that I don't want to have to get up early all summer :)

I used a fax machine this week and I'm calling this a FAVORITE moment!  These things make me nervous because I use one maybe once or twice every two years!!  I have no idea if my fax goes through or if I even did it correctly.  You know with email you can always check to see if it goes through but not a fax.   I'm so thankful that I don't have to always use a fax machine.

My last FAVORITE moment?  We close on our house in just a few short days!!!!!  I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!
When we first announced our plans to build a house...

...and our almost finished house!

Friday Favorites (6.12.15)

Friday, June 12, 2015

Happy Friday, y'all!  It's been a fun but busy week, and I'm really thankful Friday is here.  Once again, I'm linking up with Andrea for Friday Favorites.

We've had Vacation Bible School all week at church and this is my precious and FAVORITE  2nd grade class!  This year, my friend Sarah and I had the smallest class--as in, kindergarten had over 30 each day!  But they've been super sweet and wonderful each day, and I have been praying for these kids and will continue to pray for them!

My sister and I drove by our old house this past week and just had to take a selfie :)  This house was my FAVORITE for so many reasons!  We had fantastic neighbors, lived on a cup-de-sac, had a huge yard, and was in town.  We have lots of memories here....like I ran down that driveway naked when I was 2 or 3 one time, I also backed into my mom's car twice in that driveway, and Rachel flipped over her bicycle in that driveway and now has an indention in her forehead.

This house is my FAVORITE!!!!!  We went by last night to check on the progress and they have completely finished the outside.  The painters finished up all of the touch ups yesterday and now they are completely done!  They still need to add our mirrors, hang our hand towel racks and stuff, and put up our shower door.  And clean.  I am so so SO ready to move in!

Y'all, this guy is my FAVORITE.  First of all, he's obsessed with our grass at the new house and this is him trying to stick a sprinkler in the backyard to water the sod.  Yesterday, I saw where he had posted on Facebook this not so good picture of me working on statistics.  Then he basically wrote about how I am pretty much superwoman super busy because I've got so much going on this summer and I give everything my 100% all the time.  He's the greatest and I'm so thankful for him and for how much he loves me!  He also keeps me laughing!

Here's to a weekend full of NO GRAD SCHOOL because I finished my classes already!  (Who am I kidding?  I'll work on next week's assignment this weekend.)

Life Lately

Thursday, June 11, 2015

I haven't done a life lately post in a while, so this is what's been going on in my life this past week.

I had no idea how time-consuming grad school would be this summer.  I got desperate one day and just wanted a one hour break in the sun, so I went out on our back patio to lay out before I had to get back to grad school work.  Desperate times call for desperate measures, right?

I'm still eating healthy breakfasts this summer!  Excuse the mess in the background--grad school and diabetic supplies....it's our life.

After Vacation Bible School on Monday, my friend Sarah and I went to Earthfare to eat since she'd never been, and she knows how much I love it.  She ended up liking it, too!

I got ginger tuna, creamed kale and artichoke hearts, vegan mac and cheese (not healthy but I wanted it ha!), and Mexican corn.  It was so good!

Sarah and I are teaching 2nd grade again this year at VBS and we really out-did ourselves decorating this year!  If you saw our last year's VBS room or our table from this year's ladies luncheon, you know that we are not super decorators.  It took us about 5 hours to get that whole room done, and the decorations started falling around Wednesday.  We just told the kids the jungle had a huge rain storm ha!

Opening service one morning during VBS

My mom is so precious!  She has been teaching 1st grade this week at VBS and I know how blessed I am to be serving alongside my mom in our church.

And this has been my view pretty much all summer.  It's killing me, but I know it's temporary.  Statistics is on the screen in this picture, but I've got a lit class, too.

What's been going on in your life lately?
